UBUNTU is a destination store in Pretty Prairie, KS located at 115 W Main. We cater to the thrift shopper as well as people who create art and re-purpose items.

 

Our name, Ubuntu, is a So African word that means, " I am because We are". It also carries the meaning of compassion, community, caring for others and selflessness. The name was chosen for this store because we feel it not only is the definition of our Pretty Prairie community, but is also a good conversation starter.

 

Currently we are the only store in our area that not only provides affordable gently used clothing and household items, but also provides items that can be used in art and craft ideas in a creative area within the store.

 

One of our goals is to become a not for profit, forming a foundation in the Pretty Prairie community.

 

The building we are currently in has been loaned to us for 2 years after which time we will have to find another location. We are hoping that we will be able to raise money and also apply for grants that will help us build or aquire a permanent home.
